The safety of railroad crossings has risen to the forefront among not only engineers, transportation safety experts and legislators, but also among the general public, largely due to several severe and highly publicized crashes at railroad crossings throughout the country. This webinar will discuss design and technology solutions available to improve grade crossing safety and help prevent motorists from being stopped on the tracks while a train is approaching.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Discuss application of traffic control devices, railroad warning time and track clearance interval.
  • Identify critical design elements relating to railroad preemption.
  • List enhanced preemption circuits to improve safety at crossings.

Earning Course Credit: A course evaluation must be completed. This enrollment and the evaluation is name specific and non-transferable. Site attendees may earn course credits upon verification by ITE staff. Instructions regarding the process will be provided to the site registrant via email and in an attachment.
