Innovative Approaches To Multimodal Transportation Assessmen

Webinar Description

Learn about 2 recent updates to transportation impact assessment guidelines that incorporate multi-modal transportation in two forward thinking cities - Washington, DC's Guidance for Comprehensive Transportation Review (CTR) and San Francisco's Transportation Impact Analysis Guidelines. You will be provided an overview of what the updated guidelines contain in each city, how they plan to use these guidelines to improve transportation analysis in site development, and why both cities decided to undertake the guideline updates that consider multi-modal transportation in their impact analysis process.

Hear from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) on how and why the CTR Guidance, adopted in June 2019, shifts away from evaluating throughput and delay for automobile drivers to requiring a multi-modal network analysis and implementing the person-trip generation methodology. You can learn more and read DDOT's CTR Guidance at https://ddot.dc.gov/publication/ddot-guidelines-comprehensive-transportation-review-ctr-requirements.

You will also hear about how San Francisco Planning Department updated their TIA Guidelines and created a new tool in February 2019 to use new criteria and methodology to determine a development's environmental impacts based on estimated number, type and common destinations of new trips that people using various modes would take to and from a new development projects. Read San Francisco's TIA Guidelines and view the look at https://sfplanning.org/news/transportation-impact-analysis-guidelines-update.
