Series Description:
This 10-part Road Safety Fundamental Webinar series highlights various aspects of road safety as part of ITE’s continued focus on Vision Zero and the goal to reduce and eventually eliminate fatalities. Presented by experts in their field, this series will have a topic appropriate for all levels. There is a suite of introductory webinars for those not familiar with road user safety as well as modules discussing safety evaluations and safety for all road users.

Webinar Description:
This webinar provides an introduction to explicit consideration of the safety of all road users. Content will include safety performance considerations concerning all road users including vehicular traffic, pedestrians, bicycles, motorcyclists, trucks, older road users, transit users, and micromobility devices. The webinar will also discuss the potential safety benefits of connected/automated vehicle (CAV) applications.

Learning Objectives:

• Recall basic safety terminology, sources of information, and historical perspective;
• Identify trends, challenges and opportunities for reducing and eliminating fatalities, injuries and crashes; and
• Understand the challenges with changing safety culture in the US.
• Introduce potential safety benefits of connected/automated vehicle (CAV) applications
