Transportation Impact Analysis for Site Development - A Proposed Recommended Practice

The purpose of this PROPOSED Multimodal Transportation Impact Analysis for Site Development Recommended Practice (MTIASD) is to provide guidance for preparing and reviewing multimodal transportation impact analysis studies for certain types of land use changes and site developments. The report also encourages consistency in planning for site access, on-site circulation and parking layouts, as well as off-site improvements for new and expanding developments. Another objective is to foster a better understanding of the multimodal transportation-related aspects of development planning by those who participate in the process.

This PROPOSED Multimodal Transportation Impact Analysis for Site Development Recommended Practice is intended to replace the current Transportation Impact Analyses for Site Development Recommended Practice, under publication number RP-020D published September 2010.

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is preparing publication to reflect the current state-of-the-practice and to provide the user with a broad overview of key considerations on updated practices on preparing transportation impact studies that consider multiple modes of transportation and provide new approaches for agencies to proactively plan for multimodal transportation when reviewing site developments. This report is being published as a proposed Recommended Practice of ITE. As such, it is to be considered in proposed form and is subject to change after the public comment period. Readers are encouraged to submit written or emailed suggestion(s) for improving this publication to the following no later than Thursday, January 6, 2022, to be considered in the final Recommended Practice:
