Webinar Description:

Satisfying the needs of all of the students, staff, and parents getting to and from schools by walking, biking, or car along with the overlapping community and commuter traffic has always been challenging. This webinar presents planning concepts, operational considerations, and safety factors that should be considered when examination traffic management in schools area. This includes more specifically:

  • Trip generation and traffic flow patterns by mode around schools
  • Data collection
  • Designing Safe Routes to School to address safety concerns and risky driving behaviors
  • Effectiveness of traffic and parking management practices, control measures, and traffic calming
  • Analytical and simulation tools for campus operations
  • Physical, fiscal and administrative challenges to implementation
  • Approaches for engagement and coordination between school districts, schools, municipalities, and adjacent residents
  • Best practices for establishing programs and standardization of concepts

This webinar builds on content available in ITE publications and best practices in the U.S. and Canada.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the issues in school areas and successful traffic management strategies to address them,
  • Identify policies, resources, and standardized tools to improve safety and operations related to school areas available to practitioners.
  • Describe the complex interaction between user groups and transportation modes around schools.
  • Understand need and tools for engagement between schools, schools, municipalities, and community members.

Policies:
All live web event purchases are non-refundable within 7 business days prior to the event. You will have access to the recording of the webinar for 30 days following the event. On-demand recordings provide PDH credit to the registered attendee only; and does not provide credit to multiple attendees at one location. Once the live event is concluded and the recording is posted for on-demand status, it will have a 60 day shelf life. After the 60 days the webinar will be removed for archive.
